What Is A Doula and How Can One Help You?

A doula is someone who is experienced in childbirth and someone who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth.

A Trained Doula:

  • Recognizes childbirth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life
  • Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of women in labor
  • Assists women in preparing for and carrying out her plans for the birth
